Fair Trade

Starring: Seller & Marketer

The farmer’s market.  Seller has a small stand with a chalkboard that says “coffee beans.”  Marketer walks by the stand.

MARKETER

Good morning.

SELLER

Good morning to you.

MARKETER

These beans smell heavenly.

SELLER

That’s where they fell from.

MARKETER

Hey...now that’s some good marketing.

SELLER

Really?

MARKETER

I work in the industry.  I know a good slogan when I hear it.

SELLER

No kidding.

MARKETER

Does your business already have a name?

SELLER

Not yet.  I’m just starting out.  Focused on the product—

MARKETER

Well you can’t start without a name...

How about “Heavenly Coffee”

Or

“Cloud Nine Coffee Company”???

Or

“Pearly Gates Beans”???

SELLER

...alright—

MARKETER

No wait I got it…“Kingdom Come Caffeine Co.”

That would look good on your chalkboard, yeah?  With some big neon block letters?

Just food for thought.

SELLER

I mean...yeah.

MARKETER

Brand is everything.  That’s my company’s brand.

...

SELLER

So do you want to buy some beans?  I’ll give you a good deal.

MARKETER

No thank you, I only drink coffee when I’m constipated.

I hope the advice helped, though!

SELLER

A lot.

MARKETER

Well it’s the least I can do.

...

Do you by any chance know where they sell the guava jelly?

SELLER

Last two stalls on the right.

MARKETER
Oh, wonderful, thank you!

SELLER

Have a nice day.

Marketer moves along.  Seller turns and looks at their chalkboard.  They decide to leave it be.
