The List

A
Yeah. You could say anger and I are intimate.
We’ve gone through a lot. Ups and downs, in-betweens. But we’ve always stuck by each other. There’s a level of trust that’s hard to find anywhere else.
But it’s costly. Loving anger is loving an abuser. It’s cyclical, and messy, but addictive. It hurts really good, or else I wouldn’t stay.
A takes out a small handwritten post-it:
This is my anger alternatives list. 15 things I can count on when I am. Today, they are the following:
Air
Movement
Uppercutting pillows
Jazz Piano
Cabinet cleaning
Those orange peanut butter crackers
National Geographic
Hypothetical arguments in the shower
Rock Skipping
Rope Skipping
Backing into parking spaces
Youtube videos of Alpine Horns
Carnivals
Yelling into the wind
A good tennis match on mute
They’re remedies, not cures. I can wear as many pads as I want, but I’m still playing football. Anger always finds a way to tackle and concuss. These just soften the blow.
But anyways.
This is how I cope. Maybe it will help you too.
