Charade

July 11th, 2020

Starring: PFC (25-50)

Late night/Early morning.  A small kitchenette.  PFC shuffles in.  They remove a bowl, a cereal box, milk.  The milk is added first.  Then the cereal, which has just enough to make a serving.

A milk cannonball.  The toy at the bottom of the box plops into the bowl.  PFC fishes it out and places it on the table, examining.  It’s a little action figure in combat fatigues with movable arms.  PFC adjusts the arms so that they’re pointing straight in the air, as if it’s waving for help.  They walk the figure to the edge of the countertop, hanging a few feet above the trash can.

PFC

(lower voice) “Don’t do it!”

(action figure voice) “I have to!”

(lower voice) “No you don’t!  It’s not your time!”

(action figure voice) “You don’t know me!”

(lower voice) “Just take a step back!”

(action figure voice) “No!”

(lower voice) “You’re better than this!”

(action figure voice) “No!”

(lower voice) “NOOOOOOO!”

PFC pushes the action figure off the counter.  It falls into the trash can.

The little scene ends.

PFC smirks, and goes back to the cereal.  They eat.

They take the empty box over to the trash can and throw it in.

They pause.  PFC fishes out the action figure and puts it back on the counter.  They bend down its arms.

PFC

Sorry.

PFC exits the kitchenette.
