Starring: Cousin 1 & Cousin 2 (Grown-ups)

Cousin 2 is staring at an Antelope head mounted on the wall. Cousin 1 enters, taking the final bites of something.

COUSIN 1

Am I ruining something?

COUSIN 2

Nah.

Just having one of those moments where you’re like “oh.”

COUSIN 1

An epiphany.

COUSIN 2

Yeah.

It’s like when you realize something you spent your whole life thinking was true was obviously a complete lie and you’re surprised that your brain knew it was a lie the whole time but somehow didn’t care.

Cousin 1 just nods.

COUSIN 2

How did grandpa tell you he killed it?  Bowie knife?

COUSIN 1

Killed it?

He told me it was a gift from Rudyard Kipling.

COUSIN 2

Sometimes I think lying to kids is criminal.

COUSIN 1

Yeah

I think there are worse things.

...

...

I made an extra grilled cheese.  Do you want it?

COUSIN 2

Yes.

COUSIN 1

It’s in the pan.

COUSIN 2

Thanks.

Cousin 2 leaves.  Cousin 1 stares up at the Antelope.

COUSIN 1

Huh.
